I’ve been with Southern Cross Care for four years, having initially done three months’ agency work.
The way I was welcomed, plus the fantastic facilities and modern equipment, made me choose SCC.
I’d been out of the workforce for years raising my kids. Getting back into it was daunting, but I completed my eight-week Certificate III in Aged Care.
Eventually I’d like to study to be an Enrolled Nurse through SCC. They offer great training and development, including many specialised courses such as dementia and wound and palliative care.
I’ve recently become a Mentor to new Trainees, offering guidance, encouragement and support. I greatly enjoy this part of my role.
I like crafts, reading and watching kids’ sport.
I love how I can help make a resident’s day; it’s what keeps me coming back.
